dbWindow Read Only

dbWindow 3.0 removes all the stumbling blocks to using a database with MicroStation

dbWindow provides your system administrator with a three tier control for setting what should be read only - the entire product, just certain tables, or just certain columns. You have the power to protect important data while still allowing your users the freedom to view the data, and at the same time you can allow them to edit other data.

The dbWindow read only system is located on the password protected settings dialog. It is a hierarchy with three tiers, and of course the higher tiers override the lower ones. The highest tier is the dbWindow read only toggle. This toggle, when set, will lock down the entire product to be read only. Therefore users could not perform any update, insert, or delete operations at all.

The second highest tier is the table read only system. Any number of tables can be marked as read only. Therefore users could not perform any update, insert, or delete operations on those tables.

The lowest tier is the column read only system. Any number of columns in any number of tables can be marked as read only. If a column is marked as read only, the user would not be able to double click in that column of the grid to change a value.

You need to download dbWindow to try all the powerful features.
