An Affordable DGN file Viewer/Redliner

Bringing Database Connectivity to Your DGNs

NextView lets you view and redline MicroStation design files in the office or in the field. You may also view or edit database linkages with an editable grid, all at a very low cost. Stay on top of your design project and make all of your essential data available for others to review and mark-up in the office, both design files and database linkages. Field personnel may review and redline files away from the office and ensure that corporate databases are current. The design file changes and comments will be reflected in the redline file while protecting the integrity of the actual designs themselves until they have been through an approval cycle and can be incorporated into the actual design. Likewise, database changes are stored in a separate database file until approved for upload to a corporate, master database. NextView makes the design process and data gathering more fluid allowing you to solicit valuable comments and input from key personnel electronically.

NextView is simple to use making it the perfect choice for those inexperienced CAD users on the project team. NextView will require no additional training either.

So, why do you need NextView?

Redline Features

Place notes and simple MicroStation elements in the redline file. Use the familiar MicroStation manipulations on redline file elements. Locate text in the main design or redline file, use the many Settings available to manipulate the view and place redline elements such as active angle, text size, weight, level, color, etc. Attach a cell library and place cells in the file.

The MicroStation 2D or 3D drawing is opened in read-only mode. All changes, notes and additions to the drawing are written to a new ‘redline’ design file. The marked-up design file will be sent through an approval process defined for the project before being incorporated into the original design using MicroStation. NextView gives you the opportunity to say ‘no more changes with pencil and paper on outdated drawings’. For a very low cost you can manage your project quickly and accurately while involving the entire team.

Database Features

Connect to an Access database directly, a dBase database or an ODBC database. Use the Data Browser to perform queries, view data, edit data, Locate an element linked to a selected row in the grid and more. You may disable editing in the grid with the passworded Preferences.

Field personnel can verify data while on site keeping corporate databases up to date with actual events and systems. Changes made to the data will be written to a separate database for easy import into the main database at the office giving corporate personnel the freedom to verify the changes prior to uploading to the master database.

Review linkages in the main design or redline file. The row will be displayed in a scrollable grid. You may edit the data in the grid unless editing has been disabled.

In both the Data Browser and Data View dialogs, you may change to a design file listed in the selected row by selecting the Change Design File button.
