Bearing Application

Bearing is an MDL application that provides a way for users to draw lines with bearing information either interactively or from bulk data saved in an ASCII file.

To begin the drawing process, the user may enter a datapoint where the line should start. After the point is entered, it will be marked by a weight 8 dot which will be displayed in the current highlight color. After you have entered the desired quadrant, bearing, and length, the user simply hits the tab or enter key to leave the Length field (optional data) and this will cause the line to be placed. The user can then continue to draw from the current position by simply providing new bearing data.

The first dialog field specifies which quadrant (1-NE, 2-SE, 3-SW, 4-NW) to use. The second dialog field specifies the bearing (DD.MMSS) to use. The third dialog field specifies the length (master units) of the line to draw.

The application can automate drawing large amounts of line data instantly by processing a file that contains bearing information. The file menu offers the user the ability to define the ASCII record format for a bearing data record and then to import a bearing data file.
